Water-Proofing My Buggy For Sundays Rain

WP_000341

I wrapped my receiver up in a party balloon and taped it and the Electronic Speed Controller up for use in the rain on Sunday. This worked fine but unfortunately did not stop me burning out my motor. This the first time I had a motor smoke and burn out on me and it was not that old.

Getting Some Air With My Twin Hammers

Today I took my Twin Hammers to the local skate park. It gets some nice height on the jump there, much more than my other cars.
Here is a highlight clip from the session. I have much more video footage also including my micro short course truck to upload later.

Installed Aluminium arms on my TT01 chassis

It’s getting pretty blue with hop ups now. I can now set the camber on all 4 wheels. Not played with it too much but will adjust it for drifting.

Twin Hammers Rock Crawler / Buggy first drive

A short video of my first drive with the Twin Hammers Rock Crawler / Buggy.

I was not going full throttle as I was only driving with one hand and this was towards the end of the battery.

Its great fun to drive and I was surprised at how often it wheelies from a standstill. It is very easy to tip over at speed and therefore requires much more brake control than most vehicles.

Phoenix BX gear mesh fixed and ball-raced

Last time I was out with this buggy a gear stripped and I later found out the gears were not meshing properly. When my ball-race bearings arrived I took the car apart upgraded it and re-meshed the gears. Its now running at a decent pace and it great fun to drive!

I was filming in one hand and steering with the other which is way the steering’s a little crazy.

Arms with adjustable camber, oil filled shocks and propeller joints for the drive shaft. All are Aluminium replacing plastic parts. Shocks need to be built and filled with oil so they will need to set overnight.

Ball Joint Steering Upgrade for Silvia (TT01 Chassis)

Today I fitted a part aluminium ball joint steering upgrade to my TT01 chassis. This replaces the stock steering track which is all plastic and screwed in. This upgrade has improved steering control which is especially handy when drifting.

The upgrade item is a 3Racing Steering Track. It says it is for the TT01E but comes with the parts also needed to fit it to the TT01.

Fitted Motor Heatsink and Indicator Lights to Silvia

Today I fitted some more parts to my tt01.

I added an Aluminium heatsink to the motor as they tend to get hot when drifting, I noticed this myself last time I took the car out. The heatsink comes as standard with the drift edition of the tt01 chassis but as I am building from the standard chassis I had to buy my own.

I also added some indicator leds to the body shell. I prefer to have all the lights left on so I have put aside the light controller that come with the leds and just connected them to the standard tamiya one.
